Kisspeptin-10
Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-residue piece cut from the tail end (positions 45 to 54) of kisspeptin-54, which the KISS1 gene codes for. The kisspeptin family are the native binding partners for the receptor KISS1R, which also goes by GPR54.

What researchers study it for
- Gonadotropin and LH output in male volunteers
- How the hypothalamus, pituitary and gonads signal each other
- Men with type 2 diabetes and reduced testosterone
- Head-to-head studies against kisspeptin-54 and GnRH
How it is thought to work
The target is KISS1R (GPR54), a G-protein-coupled receptor. When kisspeptin activates it, the hypothalamus lets out gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), and GnRH then prompts the pituitary to put out LH and FSH. In small physiology experiments with volunteers, LH went up after kisspeptin-10, though GnRH on its own produced a stronger response.
Where the research stands
Small human physiology studies. It has only been looked at in small physiology experiments in people and has no approval as a drug anywhere. FDA places it in compounding category 2, and WADA bans kisspeptin along with its agonists under S2.
