Bioregulators
Prostamax
Prostamax is a short synthetic peptide. A paper from 2012 gives its sequence as Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro (KEDP), and the St. Petersburg group behind most of the work refers to KEDP as a peptide that regulates prostate function.

What researchers study it for
- Chromatin compaction in lymphocytes from elderly donors
- Rat prostate tissue kept in culture
- Computer modeling of binding to peptide transporters
How it is thought to work
No mechanism has been established. When lymphocytes from donors aged 75 to 88 were cultured with Prostamax, tightly packed chromatin reportedly opened up and ribosomal genes switched on, which the authors interpret as reactivation of genes silenced with age. A docking study on the computer suggests KEDP might bind the LAT and PEPT1 transporters, but none of the papers we read tests that in the lab.
Where the research stands
Preclinical, with a very small body of literature. A PubMed search under this name turns up just six records, several of them in Russian. The experimental ones are cell or tissue-culture studies from the St. Petersburg group and collaborators in Tbilisi. ClinicalTrials.gov lists no human trials, and no FDA-approved product exists.
